LAUNCHING CEREMONY OF IP FILING FUND 2.0


25 January 2022 – Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) YB Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, today launched the Intellectual Property Filing Fund 2.0 amounting to RM4 million under Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) for a period of four years, starting this year until 2025.

This fund, which is an allocation under the 12th Malaysia Plan, is expected to benefit 2,000 entrepreneurs, especially from the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector. It covers filing fees for all intellectual property components namely trademarks, patents, copyrights, industrial designs and geographical indications. It also include costs for work that requires professional and technical services such as patent drafting.

This fund aims to ease the burden of local entrepreneurs and further increase competitiveness through the protection of intellectual property and stimulate the national economy. Apart from that, this fund also helps to increase the local IP applications.

Previously, MyIPO also offered the same fund in 2016 to 2020 under the 11th Malaysia Plan amounting to RM2.5 million. During the period, a total of 1,465 entrepreneurs have benefited from this fund.

Meanwhile, in today’s ceremony, a total of 100 entrepreneurs were present to apply for the funds. Applications for the Intellectual Property Filing Fund 2.0 can also be made online or walk in to MyIPO’s Headquarters or branches.

Also present were the Secretary General of Ministry Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam-Zam Ahmad and the Director General of MyIPO, Abdul Haris Lakar.
