Copyright Voluntary Notification

Copyright owner may use the Copyright Voluntary Notification to assist in providing prima facie evidence of ownership and evidence of date of creation. This may aid the copyright owner since the voluntary notification can be used in court as proof of the facts made. Notification of copyright works can be submitted to MyIPO with minimal charges (please refer the prescribed fee). Applying for Copyright Voluntary Notification is simple.

1. The Copyright owners who are either the Author/ Owner/ Licensee or Assignee (“the Copyright Owner”) need to submit the following documents for applying the notification :
   a) Form CR-1
   b) An electronic copy of Work
   c) Fee
2. Form CR-3 is only applicable if the Copyright Owner legally appoints a person to act on behalf of him in filing the Voluntary Notification.
   Form CR-3 can also be submitted by the Copyright Owner’s Intellectual Property agent or a local representative representing a non-Malaysian citizen who has a residential address in Malaysia or an individual’s representative. A representative does not include dispatch/runner and employees representing the company and is not required to fill up Form CR-3.
